Generosity Is the Ultimate Sales Hack

March 03, 20261 min read

For the last two decades, I’ve been extremely fortunate to work with some incredible leaders and founders across different parts of the world.

What I’ve observed is, the genuine A-graders, the well-rounded, high-performing operators at every level, not just in business, share one glaring trait.

They are extraordinarily generous.

Whether they do it because it works, or it works because that’s who they are… I suspect it’s the latter. But the pattern is undeniable.

In a manic world addicted to attention and extraction, generosity becomes more than a circuit breaker, it becomes a signal. It’s abundance in action and it sits at the core of every strong relationship.

And here’s the fascinating part: Generosity compounds.

Trust.

Reputation.

Service levels.

Referrals.

Energy.

The obvious question is... How do you bring generosity to life when you don’t have much to give?

Well, there are countless ways and it doesn’t have to be financial.

- Let someone merge in traffic — especially when you’re in a hurry.

- Acknowledge the people most ignore; the cleaner, receptionist, the junior in the room.

- Listen intently, without waiting for your turn to speak.

- Ask the question no one else is willing to ask, with respect.

- Give specific praise publicly. Constructive feedback privately.

- Raise the standard in the room without announcing it.

- Offer value first — don’t track the scoreboard.

The list is endless... None of that costs much. But it sends a powerful signal.

In a world drowning in noise and short-term transactions, generosity is more than a mindset...

And the more you train it under resistance, the stronger your reputation and relationships grows.
