
The Pickavance Close
Here’s a technique I call the Pickavance Close.
My doctor taught me this masterful sales technique.
When my kids were in preschool, we were always getting sick. I’d visit Dr Pickavance frequently, usually on the hunt for antibiotics.
Almost every time, he’d talk me out of it.
“I can write you a prescription. But it won’t work, and it’s not good for you. You’ve got to let your body do the work.”
I’d walk out of the clinic frustrated. Most times. Knowing he was right, but looking for a quick fix.
But over time, it built massive trust. The Dr wasn’t trying to peddle me something I didn’t need. And his advice was always in my best interest.
If your client can genuinely do it themselves... tell them. Give them the confidence to know they can.
That’s what I call the Pickavance Close.
